Wl~I61~S F088 pI1NING ~m41N?
November 2Q 1998
Mr. Gregg Squire
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RECEIVED
r,l,,, ~ a 1998
Deaz Mr. Squire:
Division of Minerals 6 Geology
RE: Annual Sand and Gravel 112 Report for 1997-98, and Notice of Intent to Continue
Mining Operations (Permit No. M-84-168j
Enclosed please find the Williams Fork Mining Company 1997-98 Sand and Gravel Operations report
and map. The annual fee payment of $550 was previously submitted. We intend to continue mining
operations into 1999. The enclosed revised Appendix C map illustrates the surveyed acreage which has
been reclaimed (26.54 acres, including 19.61 acres of pond surface) and the unreclaimed acreage which
has been mined (3.44 acres) or is simply associated disturbance (9.21 acres). New disturbance in 1998
involved topsoil stripping for pit advancement in Mining Area 4.
Following recent approval of Technical Revision TR-O6, 26.54 acres were permanently reclaimed in
October 1998 in connection with the Phase I (of lI) reclamation plan. The seed mixture used, with
associated seeding rates, is enclosed (Table E-1 of Permit Document M-84-168). The Phase 1
reclamation plan was formulated with input from the Colorado Division of State Panics and thc
Colorado Division of Wildlife, as discussed in the TR-06 document. This was done because of the
desire of the Yampa Legacy Project to include the gravel pit area into a future state panic.
During the past report period (October 26, 1997 through October 25, 1998) 1.52 acres were disturbed
with actual mining, while a total of 2.07 acres were newly disturbed. The projection for the 1998-99
report period is for approximately 3.00 acres of new disturbance in Mine Areas #4 and #5.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
7l~Ca~S~' ,.'
Forrest V.
