Loye
Dear Mark:
Re: Garrett Pit
File No. M-78-271
Reclamation work in the Garrett Pit has not essentially
changed since 1984. In 1984 approximately 1.38 acres were mined
on the southwest portion of the excavation. In 1985 approxi-
mately 1.2 acres was mined on the southwestern portion of the
excavation.
Volunteer vegetation has appeared on those slopes that
have been graded to slopes of 3:1 or flatter. No significant
erosion is visible on any of the slopes in the pit. No arti-
ficial revegetation efforts have been made to date.
It is anticipated that mining operations will continue
in a westerly direction. Since demand for material is depend-
ent on local and State government demand, accurate estimates
are impossible to determine at this time. It is anticipated
that between 1'q to 2 acres will be mined during the coming year.
We hope to begin reclamation ,efforts on those slopes on
the north side this year.
I apologize for the delay in this report and look for-
ward to working with you to limit our problems with the Mined
Land Reclamation Division in the future.
Sincerely,
Joh T.
