• <br />Schmid Surveys <br />• iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii <br />999 <br />January 6, 1990 <br />To: National King Coal, Inc. <br />Fe: Quarterly Subsidence Monitoring <br />Three additional monitoring points, (A, B, 6 C), were established in August <br />1989. Point A was located above the urunined area between section # 2 east and <br />section # 3 east. Point B is located about 125 feet south of point A and point C is <br />about 225 feet south of point A. Both B and C are located over the "pillared" part <br />of section #3 east. <br />On October 12, scone surface cracking was observed in the area around point B. <br />These cracks were generally east-west and approximately 1/2" wide. ey November 2, <br />sane of the cracks were 2" wide and extended scene 175 feet east and 325 feet west <br />free points B & C. By December 20, there was evidence that surface cracking in the <br />area was beginning to "heal", and I found no evidence of new cracks or widening of <br />the existing ones. <br />Subsidence survey checks were made on October 12, November 2, November 20, and <br />December 20. On each of these occasions point A did not move (in relation to <br />subsidence points S-1, S-2, S-3, and S-4); however, the following movement on the <br />other monuments was detected: <br />P.O.
