As during the previous reporting period, stream flows were rare, due to the low incidence of
thunderstorms which cause run off events. The snow melt run off caused flows detected at three
' monitoring stations in March 1992. The northwestern Colorado region continues to be the most
severely affected portion of the State by the drought of recent years.
' One station in lower Red Wash (SW1-1) recorded and sampled three flow events. One event was
recorded at the upstream station in Red Wash (SW24-1), indicating the localized nature of
precipitation in the area. The three flows detected by SW1-1 had an average total dissolved solids
(TDS) content of 4541 mg/I. Two flows originating between the two stations occurred in areas
containing outcrops of the high salt content Wasatch formation.
' As in all previously monitored water years, no discharges occured from the Refuse Area ponds, and
' therefore, no flows were measured or sampled at SW23-1 during this water year.
During this reporting period, one flow was recorded at SW11-1 near the mouth of Scullion Gulch.
' This flow was the seventh event recorded during the past 72 months. The total dissolved solids
(fDS) in the sample was 1996 mg/I.
2.2.2 Ground Water Monltorlny Data Groundwater monitoring data consists of water levels
measurements. Tabulation of the raw data is included in Appendix C. Hydrographs for the 15
stations (monitor holes) from which water level data was collected are included in Appendix D.
Table 2-2 is a statistical summary of the water level data.
2.2.2.1 Alluvial Water Level Data Water level data has been collected from the one remaining
original alluvial aquifer monitoring hole (OAL-5) and the Refuse Disposal Area alluvial monitoring
hole (RM-1). Five other alluvial monitoring holes were inundated by Kenney Reservoir. Ahydro-
graph of the water level data for QAL-5 is contained in Appendix E. The statistical summary of the
water level data for QAL-5 is also included in Table 2-2. No water has yet been detected in RM-1.
' The locations of these monitoring holes are shown on Plate 1 in the pocket of this report.
t

' 6
