Therefore, this letter serves as the Division's adequacy review letter for the 2002 AHR.
The Division has no outstanding issues with the 2002 AHR. Bear Coal Company conducted the
hydrologic monitoring according to the approved plan. The results show that no compliance
problems were encountered. There was no dischazge from the sediment pond, NPDES outfall
004, in 2002. The Edwazds Mine portal spring water treatment pond, NPDES outfall number
001, did dischazge during 2002. However, no compliance problems were noted. There were no
compliance problems as well with the hydrologic monitoring of the upstream and downstream
stations of the North Fork of the Gunnison River. Finally, the hydrologic data support the
predictions found in the Probable Hydrologic Consequences section of the permit application.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
r~
J seph J. )?fidash
nvironmental Protection Specialist
cc: Jim Stover (J.E.
