Kvaerner Metals Project No. 306900 <br />General Specification No. GC-01 <br />Site Work <br />facilities during the operations by Subcontractor, he shall immediately notify the Engineer <br />' and shall arrange for immediate repair at his own expense. <br />All excavations to be backfilled shall be dry, clean and free of all shoring materials, <br />' forming materials, trash and debris prior to the starting of backfill. No such material shall <br />be allowed to be included with backfill materials. Areas to be backfilled shall be inspected <br />and approved by the Engineer prior to the placement of the material. <br />Backfill material, placement and compaction shall be as specified in Section 5.3. <br />' Sand bedding, where indicated on the drawings, shall conform to the gradation of <br />Section 6.2 <br />' 8.0 DRAINAGE <br /> All exterior areas shall be graded to ensure adequate drainage in accordance with the <br />' drawings. If grading work accomplished reveals the presence of undrained areas, it shall <br /> be regraded or drainage otherwise provided. <br />' The finished surface around buildings and foundations shall be graded to drain away <br /> from such structures. <br /> Culverts shall be galvanized corrugated steel pipe conforming to ASTM A 760. Pipe <br /> sizes shall be as shown on the drawings and gages shall be as follows: <br /> • =12 in. dia. through 18 in. dia.: i6 gage (0.064 in.) <br /> 21 in. dia. through 30 in. dia.: 14 gage (0.079 in.) <br />' <br /> • 36 in. dia. through 60 in. dia.: 12 gage (0.109 in.) <br />' Minimum cover for culverts shall be 1 ft-3 in. <br /> Pipe shall be stored and protected to prevent damage. <br /> <br /> All cast iron for drainage structure frames, grates, and covers, shall conform to the <br /> requirements for Class 30 gray iron castings, in accordance with ASTM A 48. Frames <br />' and grates or covers shall be match-marked in pairs before delivery, and the grates and <br /> covers shall fit into their frames without rocking. <br />Manhole steps shall be approved manufactured steps or shall be constructed of 3/4 in. <br />diameter reinforcing steel bars and shall be galvanized, after fabrication, in accordance <br />with ASTM A 123. <br />' All concrete work for cast-in-place drainage structures shall be in accordance with <br />General Specification No. GC-02. <br />' All precast concrete manhole risers and tops shall conform to the requirements of ASTM <br />C 478, using Type V cement. <br />J:110691NR~PEQ57RUGT00075PC.DOC, RSV. 1~1 1O Prvmtetl July Z7, 1899 <br />
