• SECTION 2 -SURFACE AND GROUND WATER DATA <br />RULE REQUIREMENT <br />RULE 4.05.13(4)(c) Monitoring Report Requirements (surface and ground water) <br />Rule 4.05.13(41(c) <br />(i) Water quantity data for the three surface monitoring sites is presented in Exhibits <br />2A of this report. <br />(ii) Water quality data obtained from the three surface and three ground water sites is <br />presented in Exhibits 2A and 2B of this report. Dischazge monitoring reports aze <br />submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on a <br />quarterly basis. A copy is forwazded to the CDMG and is included in this report by <br />reference. <br />(iii) A written interpretation of the data is not required by the Division. <br />All analytical results from surface and ground water monitoring have been tabulated and <br />aze kept on file at Colowyo Coal Company L.P. Historical data is presented in this AHR. <br />• The monitoring timeframe for this annual report is from January 1, 2003 through <br />December 31, 2003. A description of the surface and ground water monitoring plan is <br />located in Colowyo's CDMG Permit, Volume 1, Section 4.05.13 on page 4.05-10 of the <br />permit. <br />GENERAL DISCUSSION <br />Surface Water Data -Surface water monitoring sites comprise one upstream and two <br />downstream sites and are briefly described below (See Exhibit 2C for location): <br />• New Upper Good Springs Creek (NUGSC) -upstream site, located south of the <br />mine along Moffat County State Highway 13 and represented on the <br />Impoundments Map. Monitoring has occurred from 1992 to 2003. <br />• Lower Good Spring Creek (LGSC) -downstream site, located below active <br />mining conditions along Moffat County State Highway 13 and represented on the <br />Impoundments Map. Monitoring has occurred from 1982 to 2003. <br />• Lower Taylor Creek (LTC) -downstream site, located below active mining <br />conditions along Moffat County Road 17 and represented on the Impoundments <br />Map.
