~~~
C077ER
March 31, 2003
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
Attn: Glenda Williams
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Subject: C-CM-25 Mine Annual Report
File No. M-1977-307
Dear Ms. Williams:
RECEIVE®
APR 0 8 1003
Division of Minerals and GealosY
The C-CM-25 Mine is located in Montrose County and operates under
a 110 permit, with a permitted acreage of 7.34 acres. This mine
does not have a phased reclamation plan.
In February, 2003, Cotter Corporation completed final reclamation
of the CM-25 Mine. The method of reclamation was agreeable to
D.O.E. and Umetco Minerals Corporation, the land owners of the
affected areas.
The reclamation work consisted of removing the extended timbered
portal area (snow shed), contouring the dump, and backfilling the
portal and portal cut area, which were located on Umetco
property.
The mine dump was contoured by excavating a portion of the dump
material back up-slope. The excavated material was then used to
backfill the portal and portal cut area, and contoured to blend
in with the surrounding topography. The shop and compressor
buildings were removed and the concrete slabs covered with at
least two feet of topsoil.
Two vent holes and a power drop hole, located on D.O.E. property,
were closed using waste rock and polyurethane foam. All non-
essential power poles and lines associated with the incoming
power line were removed.
Reclamation of two pre-law sites, the La Sal Shaft and the Mill
No. 2 Portal, were reclaimed by backfilling them with waste
material from nearby mine dumps. The mine dumps were then
contoured to better blend in with the surrounding topography.
Cotter Corporation - West Slope Operations Telephone 1970) 864-7347
P.O.
