In
addition, the need for information on older areas that had or soon would be eligible for Phase III bond
release evaluation led to sampling of seven-year-old areas as well as the eight to twenty-five-year-old
reclamaUOn in the East Pd area, To establish the permit-spectfied perfomtance standards for plant
cover end forage production, the sagebrush and mountain brush reference areas were also sampled.
•
Cover
As can be seen below, allowable plan) cover exceeded the performance standard level for the Section
16 1995 and 1998 reclamation parcels, the East Pit pre-1995 area, and the West Pit 1995 parcel.
Cover in the East Pd 1998 parcel is suf8t~entty high that the upper confidence limit bar exceeds the
standard thus this area would also be satisfactory, ralatrve to the cover performance standard
~ jr-~~ib..er iwe.aee~.ww
~VtTA of Wa~pMea Ain . Thus, it ~s not greatly alarming that they fall short of the
s.t~dard in allowable cover To a certain degree, the failure of the West Pit 7998 Area to meet the
• .~:rtdard may reflect a lingering immaturity that may corcect ilseN in the next few years, but it may bear
use watching.
