MARATHON GOLD CORPORATION
JOKER MINE AND PILOT PLANT
w!r,
1986 ANNUAL REPORT
CMLRB FILE NO . 83 - 52
During the period of September 1, 1985 to September 1, 1986, only
very limited operations were conducted at the Joker Mine and Pilot Plant. No
mining operations were conducted during the reporting period. The Pilot Plant
was operated for a two week period in July for the purpose of testing material
from outlying exploration targets. Approximately 100 tons of such material
was processed through the Pilot Plant during the test.
Laboratory use and testing of cyanide solutions in gold assay and
recovery research has been suspended indefinitely and during the reporting
period there was no such use of cyanide solutions.
There was no disturbance of additional acreage during the reporting
period. The hill above the plant was harrowed and reseeded in the fall of
1985. Sparse vegetation is growing. Reclamation of this area is progressing
satisfactorily.
During a MLRD inspection conducted on July 15, 1986, the staff
recommended that, as a preventive measure, the topsoil stockpiles be
revegetated to protect them from erosion. This recommendation will be
implemented in late fall of 1986 by hand broadcasting the seed mixture
specified in the permit. No erosion of the topsoil stockpiles is evident.
Presently, there are no plans to disturb additional acreage or to
conduct mining operations during the coming year. The Joker Pilot Plant and
the laboratory may continue to be used on an intermittent basis.
September 19, 1986
P.O. Box 1138 , Craig , CO 81626/303 824-8294
