C~ Ll ~l Climax Molybdenum Mine 2003 Noxious & Targeted Weed Management Report Overview In 2003 Climax Molybdenum Mine (Climax) conducted noxious and targeted weed control management. Weed control management on the Climax property was initiated in 1999. During the growing season of 1999 Habitat Management, Inc. (Habitat Management) conducted a weed survey of the project azea to chazacterize the extent of weed infestation, The survey identified twelve species of noxious or targeted weeds growing on the property. These species included: • Mayweed chamomile (Anthemis cotula) • Oxeye daisy {Chrysanthemum leucanthemum L.) • Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense L.) • Yellow toadflax (Linazia vulgazis L.) • Musk thistle (Cazduus nutans L.) • Hoary Cress (Cazdaria draba) • Diffuse Knapweed (Centaurea diffusa) • Spotted Knapweed (Centaurea maculosa) • Russian Knapweed (Centaurea repens) • Field Bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) • Houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale) • Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia esula) The information obtained during the weed survey was used to develop an integrated pest management plan for Climax. Weed control management under this plan was implemented on a project wide basis in the surnmer of 2000 and has continued during the 2001, 2002 and 2003 growing seasons. 1999 Weed Survey Habitat Management initiated a pedestrian weed survey that ranked weed populations by their densities, potential to spread, and difficulty to control The survey identified 188 distinct sites found on lands controlled by Climax. The weed survey was conducted to identify the nature and extent of infestations within the project azea and further define the weedy areas.
