Binns, Janet
From: Hernandez, Dan
Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 2:30 PM
To: Gorham, Kent
Cc: Binns, Janet; Berry, David
Subject: Southfield Seeding
Kent -- Good work on catching Southfield's 2003 seeding errors on the Corley family property, and thanks for bringing this
to my attention today.
I've asked Janet to investigate the following:
1. Relative to each of Southfield's two (drilled and non-drilled) approved Corley property seed mixes, what are the
percentages of the two native species (Indian ricegrass and Bluebunch wheatgrass) that Southfield failed to use? Do
these two species make up a small, or a large, percent of each of the two approved overall mixes?
2. Relative to each of the two overall seed mixes actually used by EFCI last fall on the Corley property, what are the
percentages of the two introduced species (Crested wheatgrass and Intermediate wheatgrass) Southfield substituted? Do
these species make up a small, or a large, percent of each of the two overall mixes used?
3. Are the percentages of Crested wheatgrass and Intermediate wheatgrass high enough that those species could have
an adverse effect on Southfield's reclamation? If so, what (if any) on-the-ground mitigative measures would she suggest?
I appreciate your diligence in reviewing Southfield's ARRs. Again, good work.
Dan
