West Elk Mine 2004 Annual Hydrology Report 38
6.2 Proposed Revisions to the Hydrologic Monitoring Program
Proposed revisions to [he existing hydrologic monitoring program include: 1) phasing out the
monitoring of the surface station in Lower Gribble Gulch and the springs in the Gribble Gulch area
(G-26, G-28a, G-30, G-31, G-35, and G-49), and 2) adding new surface water and spring
monitoring sites in the South of the Divide permit area and the Dry Fork and West Flatiron LBA
areas.
Several of the Project's monitoring wells (SOM-2H, SOM-16H, SOW-1, SOM 45-H1, and 96-27-
1) aze no longer functional because of casing failures. These wells can no longer be monitored and
should be eliminated from the monitoring program. A series of new monitoring wells will be
installed in August-September 2005 to replace these non-functional wells and to more effectively
monitor the current and future mining areas. A summary of the proposed revisions to the
hydrologic monitoring system is presented in Table 12.

.august 2005 HydrnGen, Inc.
