For J. A. Kiger July 15, 1996
WEST PIT EXCESS SPOIL FILL CONSTRIICTION UPDATE AND CERTIFICATION
During the quarter beginning April 1, 1996 and ending June 30, 1996, I
inspected the area in which the West Pit Excess Spoil Fill is being constructed.
The purpose of these inspections was to inspect the areas currently being dumped
complete by the truck/shovel fleet; inspect the progress of the water monitoring
well drilling; inspect the topsoil lay down areas; inspect the fill for areas of
water seepage or surface drainage and to satisfy the requirements of CDMG Rule
4.09.1(lla).
During the inspections it was observed that the truck dump had advanced to
the point that the 7250 contour was nearly dumped in. Some of the dumping during
the quarter had occurred on the north east corner of the fill, some sloping had
been done in preparation for topsoil activities. (See photographs 93 and 94)
During the quarter the vegetation on the fill began to grow, and the
vegetation came in fairly well. (See photographs 95 through 99)
On June 25, 1996, the West Pit Fill MOnitOring Well was Completed. The
well was located on the 6950 bench and was drilled down through the rock
underdrawn. The total depth of the will was 90.5 feet. The location of the well
and the casing above the fill is shown in photograph 100.
Attached to this report are my certification that all construction
requirements have been met thus far in constructing the West Pit Excess Fill.
c~~~ ~
Stephen R.
