water from the Deer Trail Ditch. During the 1999 calendar year, the Bowie No. 2 Mine
consumed 51.95 AC-FT of water in order to produce 1,705,998 tons of coal. This usage
indicates that water for bath house facilities, dust suppression and fire prevention at the Bowie
No. 2 Ivfine is currently averaging approximately 31 AC-FT per million tons of coal,
approximately the same as 1998's usage.
Conclusions
It is reasonable to assume that during the 1999 IV1me Water Inflow study season, less than 10
gallons per minute are flowing into the mine workings of the Bowie No. 2 Mine, that
approximately 37 gallons of water per minute was introduced from the Deer Trail Ditch and that
any sudden increase in mine inflow values could be reasonable incorporated into the dust
suppression process, precluding the necessity for any mine discharges.
•
•
