/'

1 evaluation data as 9-feet of piezometric head or 561.6 PSF.
Section A-A depicting the piezometric surface, boundary surface and
' zones of constant pore pressure, described above is presented on
Plate 11 of the Appendix.
' Section C-C - As noted in the Piezometer Data Evaluation
section of this report, section C-C represents a cross section near
the center of the refuse pile. The pore pressures affecting this
section are measured by the 100 and 300 series piezometers. The
' evaluation of piezometric data for this section suggests that a
gently sloping impervious or less pervious horizontal boundary
exists at elevation 4855+/-. For the section C-C model, pore
' pressures above this suspected boundary are simulated by a single
piezometric surface which begins at the toe of the slope, parallels
the slope approximately 5-feet deep to elevation 4854.09,
intercepts piezometer 101 at elevation 4963.14, intercepts
piezometer 305 at elevation 4886.19, then slopes upward at an angle
of 12-degrees from piezometer 305 to intercept the top of the
existing pile at elevation 4970. The 12-degree angle is an
' extrapolation of the phreatic surface along the same line
determined from the measured levels in piezometers 101 and 305.
Pore pressures in the refuse material between the boundary and the
pile foundation contact are simulated by a second piezometric
surface. Because of the apparent connection between the zones
above and below the boundary, this lower piezometric surface is
' identical to the one above the boundary except for a dip at the 100
series piezometers to match the level in piezometer No. 105. Pore
pressures in the alluvium foundation material are simulated by a
constant pore pressure taken from the piezometer evaluation data as
' 8-feet of piezometric head or 499.2 PSF.
