• Introduction
The ia£ormetioa assembled in this 2000 Annual Hydrology Report (AHIt) includes
data collected from approved moaitoriag sites eatebliehad at Seneca Coal
Compagy'e (SCC) Seneca II Miae (State Permit No. C-BD-005). Locations of
moaitoriag sites diaeuaeed is this report can be found by referring to Exktibit
7-2, Aydroloqy Monitoring Site Location May, which may be found in the Seneca II
Pezmit Application Package (PAP). All refereacea to 2000, or to •this year^,
will be for Water Year 2000 (October 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000) unless
othexmise noted. All tables referred to is the £ollowinq text can be found is
l~ppendix A. Ia addition, a table of conteate for Appendix A ie given at the
beginning of that appendix.
Areas previously mined are iadicatad by the shaded areas oa Figure 1 (Appendix
A). The last o£ the coal was removed is 1999. The 'Current Mining Area' shown
oa Figure 1 indicates the last open Dit.
• Field conductivity and pA meters are calibrated prior to each day`s use. The
conductivity meter is ealibreted using n potassium chloride eolu[ioa with na
electrical conductivity is the 1000 to 3000 umhos/cm range. Tha pH motet is
calibrated using NSS traceable buffers with pH values of 7 and 30. Prior to
October 1, 1939, all field conductivity values collected at Seneca II moaitoriag
sites ware not corrected for temparnture (i.e., 25° C). Field condvetloity Bate
starting oa October 1, 1989 were teigperature corrected to 25° C. The fozmula
for correcting aoa-corrected conductivity data may be found is the 1990 through
1992 AHRB.
SCC instituted is 1995 a new monitoring site numbering system £or its new
Paradox" water quality database. This new system is detailed is Table A. For
convenience sake, this table hse been placed at the end of the Table o£ conteate
(nee previous Dage). Ia addition, Table 3, Summary of Ground Water Monitoring
walla; Table 9, Summery o£ Surface Water Monitoring Sites; and the Table of
conteate of Appendices 8 through 8 have all been revised to correlate the old
• site (and map) name to the new (Paraflox) computer name. The new computer name
will be used throughout the following text.
