and 4-9 in fortis). The graminoid increases are due to increased representation by perennials
• from the revegetation seed mix. The majority of fort increases aze due to representation by
native fortis infilling from adjacent native areas.
5.0 SUMMARY
Quantitative monitoring of the 1995, 1997, and 1999 reclamation areas, the 1998 reseeded or
interseeded azeas, and the Osgood sand reference azea in 2004 showed that all of the
reclamation areas exceeded the final revegetation success criteria for total vegetation cover.
With regard to total herbaceous production, all reclamation areas exceeded the total
herbaceous production value from the Osgood sand reference azea, therefore exceeding the
revegetation success criterion for herbaceous production. Of the revegetated azeas sampled in
2004, none of the areas sampled could meet the species composition revegetation success
criterion (including the Osgood sand reference azea). Though the reclamation areas did not
meet the cover or species composition success criteria, it was concluded that the reclamation
areas have established a diverse, effective, and permanent vegetation cover of the same
seasonal variety native to the azea and are capable of self-regeneration and plant succession in
accordance with the requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act.
6.0 PEST AND DISEASE INSPECTIONS
• Four quarterly inspections were conducted at the Keenesburg Mine to evaluate the presence
or potential for pest or disease infestations or outbreaks. The inspections were conducted on
Mazch 31, June 21, July 22, and November 23, 2004. Inspection reports from those
inspections aze located in the appendix.
During those inspections no disease conditions at any of the reclaimed and revegetated azeas
were identified. No plant pests were found which were affecting the growth of the vegetation.
No bare areas, or areas which appeared to be affected by infestation or blight were found
during the inspections.
•
Coors Energy Company Page 22
2004 Revegetation Mon'rtoring Report
