EASTSIDE MINE <br />Water Monitoring Program <br />Introduction <br />Baseline surface water quality was obtained in September 1983 with a full suite of chemical parameters <br />analyzed. Additional surface and underground hydrologic sampling was analyzed for a full suite of <br />chemical parameters in April 1984. Eastside's hydrologic monitoring program was initiated in July <br />1984. Surface and underground field parameters were measured, and samples for chemical parameters <br />were collected as defined by Stipulation 1 of the Mining and Reclamation Permit, C-84-063, approved <br />January 14, 1985. Due to a large reduction in flow, monitoring of the two underground wells and seep <br />was eliminated. ABer three years of quarterly sampling with no significant deviations or variations of <br />the chemical parameter, sampling of the surface water was reduced from quarterly to semi-annual basis. <br />The present surface sampling points are: I-Harvey Gap Outlet Above Mine; 2-Harvey Gap Outlet-Below <br />Mine; 3-Seep below Harvey Gap Reservoir. The ground water sampling point is the four inch pipe <br />installed through the mine portal sea] to discharge water from the mine if the water level should rise <br />sufficiently in the underground workings of the mine. To date no discharges have occurred from the <br />mine. <br />The Geotech Well, the sampling point for the proposed location for the waste disposal, was reclaimed <br />in June of 1995. <br />The water monitoring program was initiated by Stephen Self, General Manager. Current monitoring is <br />performed by Stephen Self. Samples for the full suite of chemical parameters aze shipped to ENVIKO- <br />CHEM Laboratory in Grand Junction, Colorado for analysis. <br />Page 1 of 16 <br />
