ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County
Location: Colona Pit
File Number: M-1994-005
Anniversary Date: May 6, 2007
Location was active during this report period. United continued to mine, crush, &
stockpile sand and gravel at this location during 2006. Mining took place once in the
southeast comer of the pit and now we have moved the mining to the northeast portion of
the pit, There isn't a lot of remaining mining area left above the water table. United
reshaped the pit berm along Hwy 550, planted grass & some trees. This area is starting to
look good I think. Some 3 to 1 slope reclamation took place along with the berm
remodel. Weed management continues on a twice a year basis. The weeds are under
control.
United has a permit amendment application under review with DRMS to mine deeper
within the existing permit boundary. The current plan is to "wet mine" below the water
table and not discharge water. Reclamation of this mining will include two lakes.
Sincerely,
~~w,~~
Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
