No subdrain system is required by our permit, as geotechnical investigations for the disposal site
revealed no ground water present.
Permanent out slopes remain at approximately 85% complete on the toe of sub-area 2-3 and
approximately 55% wmplete on the toe of sub-area 4. These slopes appeared stable. Pit 5 consists
of a thin layer of refuse over the entire area.
A groundwater monitoring well had been drilled between sub-areas 1 and 2-3. To date, no water has
accumulated in the well.
At the end of the third quarter a total of 1,941,127 tons of refuse have been placed in sub-azea 2-3,
a total of 1,499,666 tons of refuse have been placed on sub-area 4, and a total of 388,972 tons of
refuse have been placed in sub-area 5a.
Two compaction tests were performed on sub-area 4 and two test were performed on sub-area 2-3.
All areas tested exceeded the required Proctor level of 90%.
Both the topsoil and subsoil piles for sub-areas 2-3 and 4 have been seeded and aze stable. All of
these seeded areas plus the area disturbed during the reclamation of sub-area 1 show vegetative
growth. The reclaimed area of sub-area 1 has been turned over with a disk harrow to try to slow the
growth of the cheat grass covering the azea. Re-seeding of this area was completed in September to
try to slow the growth of the weedy variety of plants and promote a more beneficial mixture of
vegetative growth. The topsoil and sub-soil piles along with the pond and other disturbed areas
associated with pit Sa are mostly covered with vegetation. All organic material and topsoil was
removed prior to the storage of refuse in all areas.
Quarterly monitoring of RP-4 refuse pond embankment has continued, and to date appears to be
stable.
