Reduced
production continued through 1979 and our best estimates at this time are that
ue uill not complete mining in Parts 1 and 2 of Stage 0 until late fall or early
winter of 1980. This means our tine table for mining a~ reclamations for this
area is about 18 to 24 months behind.
Ye had originally planned to start reclamation on portions of Parts 1 and 2 of
Stage 0 in 19'79, however, ve vere approached by the City of Lamar and th.e Lamar
Utilities Board, who wanted to buy this affected property for uee ae a water yell
recharge program. By using the property for such a program they would n.ot vent
to slope the banks, thus allowing more space for eater recharge. My letter to
you, dated, November 19, 1979, outlines their proposal. Ye have been in. nego-
tiations with them for the last none months, regarding the sale of the property.
Becaase of this, and their plane for not eloping, and the fact that they would
assume full reclamation responsibility for this portion of the land, xe have not
performed nny reclamation work in 1979.
Ye have now reached an aggreement with the City of Lamar regarding the purchase
of this property. Final documents are now being drafted. Hoth parties intend
to make the appropriate applications to pour office ae outlined in pour letter
to me dated December 4, 1979. Should these applications be accepted by MLRB,
the City of Lamar sad the Lamar Utilities Board would assume all reclamation
responsiIlilitiea for this portions of the Mining Plan and stages. If these
applications are rejected, Yalco would then begin reclamation of the affected
land in late 1980.
Reference is made to MLRB Rules and Regulations, effective July 19'8, Sec. 2.40.
2.41 (1) There vere 0.55 scree of land disturbed in 1979. Of the .055 scree
100x xae mined and none vas stripped.
(2) No reclamation vas performed for reasons outlined in the above
narrative.
ROCKY FORD PUEBLO CANON CITY
