Page Two
Summary of Subsidence Data
Retreat mining will also occur in 2nd West and 2 1/2 West during the
remainder of 1982 and 1983. Greater depths of overburden and relieved
stresses, due to the fractures discussed earlier, will probably result in
minimal subsidence related effects over these panels.
The Farmer's NW and 8th N Panels will also be advanced and retreat mined
during 1982 - 1983. Overburden depths greater than 500 feet and remote-
ness from unsupported outcrop-burn areas will result in negligible subsi-
dence related effects.
Mining in the 5 North Panel will not occur before October 1983, which
will enable two more surveying cycles to substantiate information fur-
nished with this report. Due to access restrictions, surveying of the
subsidence monuments is limited to the period between June and September
(see Table #3 and cross sections 5N).
Colorado Westmoreland Inc. has contracted the services of Geo-Hydro Con-
sulting Inc. to prepare an in-depth study of subsidence and its effects.
This will be submitted to the Division when completed.
