The mine remains in temporary <br />cessation, consequently there was no new disturbance and no reclamation or seeding was completed <br />during 2005. <br />Ongoing site maintenance and monitoring activities continued through 2005. Maintenance <br />activities included inspection and clean-out of drainage structures (as needed), repair of the water <br />treatment pond embankments, clean-up and removal of miscellaneous equipment and debris (from <br />abandoned buildings and field storage areas), and focused weed and rodent control activities. <br />Rodent control focused on an existing infestation of ground squirrels in areas to the west, north, and <br />south of the 7N-Angle Dewatering Borehole. Control methods included localized application of <br />Prozap (zinc-phosphate oat bait) at the entrances to rodent burrows and shooting the rodents. <br />Somewhere on the order of 400 acres were treated for noxious weed infestations in 2005. Areas <br />treated included: <br />- Roadsides (main entry road, all roads on the plateau azea south and west of the road <br />leading to the 7N-Angle Well, and portions of the main entry roads in both the east and <br />west mine facilities areas) <br />- Refuse Pile azea <br />- No. 9 Mine Shop area <br />- Areas in and surrounding the west Mine Facilities area (i.e. Water Treatment Ponds, <br />Office/Warehouse, Bathhouse, Coal Handling Facilities, Railroad Spur, Wastewater <br />Treatment areas, and yard areas) <br />- The open meadow to the north of the reclaimed Mine No. 4 portals <br />
