impacts to local or off-site locations are expected. All
excavations will be made in areas physically separated from
flowing water by streambed material or temporary isolation
dikes built after spring runoff, thus preventing disturbed
sediment from entering the river. Individual mining
operations will typically encompass areas of approximately
13 acces at any one time, and would be performed utilizing
a variety of equipment, including front-end loaders,
scrapers, bulldozers, draglines, trucks, conveyor belts,
etc., as necessary. Haul roads built on hick sand and
gravel bars within the river channel would involve an
additional area which would vary, depending upon the mining
location. No haul road would be routed through flowing
water, and to further reduce possible water cuality impact,
all excavated materials will be Hauled to the stockpile and
processing area shown in Exhibit "C". As =_oon as fea__=ible
after each annual mining operation, and pricy to high water
flows, all isolation dikes a.nd haul roads will be removed
to conform with the existing streambed, thus producing no
more impact than normal streambed movement during high
water periods. Every reasonable effort will be made to
prevent pollution and disturbance of the hydrologic balance
of the river system. Further, every effort will be taken
to assure the safety and protection of wildlife at the site
and recommendations of the Colorado Division of Sildlife
will be observed.
3
