PERMIT APPLICATZOC] <br />REGULAR (112) OPERATION <br />EXHIBIT D <br />MINING PLAN <br />SANDCO, INC. proposes a sand and gravel surface mining <br />operation within the confines of the existing Animas River <br />channel as shown in Exhibit "C". The vertical extent of <br />the sand and cravel deposit in the river bottom is unknown, <br />but according to a report cared Januar;~ 23, 1981, by <br />Simons, Li & Associates o` cost Collins, the Animas River <br />has been agurading over a lonc period of time, and based on <br />local renorc, the depth of piling driven at the Trimble <br />Lane Bridge indicate the deposits at that location exceed <br />100 feet. The Animas River annually deposits sand and <br />gravel sediment within the limits of this Application and <br />since 1982, Sandco, Inc, has annually extracted <br />approximately 50,000 tons of sediment under Limited Impact <br />Permit numbers DS-79-016 and ti- 80-130, both of which are <br />located within the boundaries of this Application.
