LOng
Division Director
RE: Eagle Mine - nd 1995 Semi-Annual
Subsidence Report (Permit No: C-81 -044)
I have Reviewed the July-December, 1995 Subsidence Monitoring Report
submitted by Cyprus Empire Corporation for their Eagle No. 5 Mine. As usual the
report is concise and accompanied by a clear map to support analysis of the
observ<Itions.
The second half of 1995 monument survey results show continued subsidence
above the E and F Seam superimposed underground workings to be proceeding as
anticip~lted within the subsidence projections of the approved permit. It is
interesting to note that on row C, between monuments C5 and C6 a differential
subsidence of 0.7 feet occurred. Occasionally, even though this ground has been
subsided repeatedly, a resistant bed tends to exhibit cantilever tensional
strength, resisting braking for awhile. The cumulative subsidence of the
adjacent monuments, however is consistent with a smooth troughing over the
panel, CIS expected.
I recommend acceptance of the report as submitted by Cyprus Empire Corp.
cc: L:3rry Routten
Doc: M:\COAL\JAP\EAGSSUBR.WP3
JP/jP
