- Trout Creek Sandstone. Well WTC201 is used as the rater supply well for the mine
faceli ties. It displays a relatively level 7T1S trend. •
Comparison of Ground Water quality to Wa tet Use Standards. SCC has compiled a list of
ground water standards for agricultural uses (Table 51. This list is composed mostly of
Colorado Department of Health (COON) ground water standards as of March 1999, although
other agency standards have been used if the CDOH has no agricul [oral standard for a
particular parameter. Table 5 has footno tea to indicate Che source of each rater quality
standard.
' Table 6 provides a eompazison of ground wager quality to agricultural atandazds. This
Paradox database generated table does not include the units of concentration lmq/1 or
ug/1) for each parameter. The units used fo.[ each parameter aze the same as those listed
on the standards table (Table 51 and are ales the same ae those used in the rater quality
reports. The frequency column on Table 6 indicates the number of exceedencea out of the
total number of samples li.e., 1/2 indicates one exceadance out of two sampleel. Helaw is
a summary of standards that were exceeded. Given in pazenthaeis is the source and use of
each standazd.
•
Parameter Number of Wells
boron (COON, irrigation) 1
chloride (California, irrigation) 2
pH (COON, irrigation) 1
iron (COON, irrigation) 5
manganese (COON, irrigation) 11
selenium (COON, irrigation) 1
dissolved solids fUSEPA, irrigation) 8
dissolved solids (Wyoming, livestock) 3
sulfate (California, irrigation) 12
In addition, a total of eight eaa~lee had cadmium values that rexe less than an elevated
detection limit 120 uq/1 va. a normal detection limit of 2 ug/1) rhich ras higher than the
CDOH standard of 10 uq/1. Literiee, a total of nine samples had lead values that ware
lean than an elevated detection limit (200 ug/1 va. a normal detection limit of 20 uq/1)
rhieh rae higher than the CDOtl standard of 100 ug/1. The cause of th¢ee elevated
detection limi to rae a decision by th¢ laboratory to dilut¢ the samples prioz to a~ulyaae •
8
