Please respond to the following issues within 30 days of receipt of this letter.
As a result of past Division report reviews, Map 17 was the source of confusion and
mis-information. The currently approved version of Map 17 of the Golden Eagle
permit is not accurate as to the locations of subsidence monitoring points and control
points. A corrected Map 17 was received by the Division on October 6, 1995 as a
response to the subsidence report review but was not incorporated into the permit.
Replacement permit materials can only be inserted into the approved permit via a
revision to the permit. Furthermore, much of the information on this map is too
small to be legible. Please submit a minor revision (or incorporate into a concurrent
revision) a request to add an accurate version of Map 17 to the approved permit.
Summarv
Subsidence data collected over the reporting period indicates only minimal, additional
ground subsidence and movement occurred. Given the approved mine plan, the Zamora
Canyon monuments should be the only set of monuments which should indicate any
significant subsidence movement within the reporting period. Inspection of the data reveals
that the significant movement due to Panel 3 mining below the Zamora Canyon monuments
occurred in the 3rd quarter of 1995, with little or no additional movement during the first
half of 1996. At the present time, no structures or renewable resources have been impacted
by subsidence and, since mining has permanently ceased under the approved mine plan, no
II~~~
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
RESOURCES
Roy Romer
Governor
Names 5 Lxhhead
Eeecmive Director
