In the
fall of 1986 the refuse pile was seeded and mulched. In
the fall of 1987 the remainder of the mine site was
seeded and mulched and the unit train loadout was seeded.
Following is a table which shows the location, number of
acres and date of planting for all previously revegetated
areas. All seeding was done in the fall of the year.
Location Acres Year Seeded
Refuse Pile 8.0 1986
Mine Sites 30.7 1987
Truck Dump 1.9 1987
Unit Train Loadout 24.5 1987
(g) A vegetation study was performed at the mine site and the
unit train loadout. The study at the mine site, which is
enclosed, was performed to determine if the cover at the
mine site was adequate to control erosion. The cover at
the mine site averages 46.28 which is quite good although
no comparison was made with the adjacent area so a soil
loss comparison was not prepared. The study at the unit
train loadout was performed to demonstrate that the
vegetation is adequate to control erosion. This study
2.04.13
supports a land use change request, technical revision
application, TR-012.
