The slope "along the southern boundary of the pit area
will not exceed 2 : 1; a minimum of 10 feet will be maintained
as a buffer zone from the railroad' s right-of-way , and the
land will be level from the base of the slope to the irriga-
tion ditch so that the ditch will continue to carry any
drainage water from the area.
In answer to your question about the 50-foot easement across
the western end of the pit area, Randy indicates that in
fact he will not excavate beyond that easement, though he
may have various work uses for the area to the west of the
easement. The present use of the easement by the Eagle
River Trust is only for livestock and an occasional tractor.
Randy has investigated the cost of putting an access road to
the pit in there to allow truck traffic , and has found it to
be economically impossible to meet the demands of the highway
department and the railroad.
