Three (3) of the four slides stopped when they
intercepted the ditch. These slides have apparently become stable using the
ditch as support. It is proposed that the three (3) slides be left in Their
present locations and a new section of ditch be dug around The slides on the
ditch road (See Drawing "A"). The road and the existing ditch should be
stable (no movement in either of two (2) very wet years) and will support the
new ditch sections.
The fourth slide moved from above the ditch down the slope, thru the ditch
filling , over- Topping it and continued down the slope. The proposed repair
To this slide is again fo leave it alone, except for putting a twenty-four (24)
inch culvert ihru the slide aT the elevation of the existing ditch (See
Drawing "B"). This, when back-filled, will allow any further movement of
the slide, over the ditch, without disrupting the operation of The ditch.
These solutions will use the existing ditch to stabilize the slides and will
cause no further disturbance to the area.
Nate That there is no evidence of flow anywhere along this ditch even during
the record snow melt and rain this spring.
Should you have any questions or would like To discuss this further, please
call.
Sincerely,
Robert D.
