.`. '
I~~ I~II~~I~I"II I~'
ENGERGY FUELS MINING CO.
RATON CREEK MINES
QUARTERLY INSPECTION REPORT
EXTENDED COAL PROCESSING WASTE
DATE OF INSPECTION: Sept.28,1994
IDENTIFICATION: Extended Waste Disposal Area
LOCATION: Sec. 36, R69W, 6th P.M.
Las Animas County, Colo.
COMMENTS: The backfilled Highwall Area has been added to the
Primary Waste Disposal Area and is reported as Extended Waste
Disposal Area.
The previous recommendation made of either riprap or concrete
pad to be placed in the N.E. corner of the Highwall Area, has
been deleted due to installation of a retaining contour ditch
along the undisturbed slope above the reclaimed area. This
ditch deverts most of the water runoff away from the reclaimed
slope.
The shaping of the entire area has been done to minimize erosion.
There are some rills along the west and south slopes of the
Primary Waste Area. A berm is being constructed at the top of
the Waste Area as shown on MAP FIGURE 17-1, along the south slope
which will reduce the rills along the slope.
MAP FIGURE 17-1, RECLAMATION PROJECT 2 PLAN, previously submitted
does appear to be same as constructed, The surface of the Waste
Area drains east on approximately a one (1) percent grade, shows
very little erosion. Some small rills on the slopes of the High-
wall Area, which are to be expected until vegetation growth.
It is the opinion of this Engineer that the Extended Coal Proc-
essing Waste Area has been constructed to meet the GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS of 4.09.1
RECOMMENDATIONS: Eliminate rills on all slopes by seeding and
mulching procedures within the next quarter. Build a new ditch
running north to south, connecting to the existing permanent
diversion ditch, meeting the 100 year design, Complete the berm..
to required specifications within next quarter.
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS STATEMENT: I, John H. Bacich state that
this report was prepared hereon is true and correct to the best
of my knowledge and information.
Sent. 29,1994
Date
ohn H. Bacich
Colo.
