The West Elk <br />Mine is an underground mine and the Lone Pine Fan Facilities aze the first facilities on the mine <br />site associated with mining to be permanently reclaimed during 2002. <br />During calendar year 2002, MCC completed approximately 4.5 acres of permanent reclamation, <br />which included backfilling, grading, seeding, fertilizing, and mulching, at the portal face-up azea, <br />powerline and pipeline corridor, and the topsoil pile azea. Another smaller substation area will be <br />reclaimed as soon as the equipment in the substation can be sold and removed. Attached is a <br />map showing the locations of permanently reclaimed areas associated with the Lone Pine Fan <br />Facilities completed in 2002. <br />Approximately 3.0 acres of interim reclamation was completed in areas associated with the <br />Methane Drainage Well Project located on United States Forest Service (USFS) lands. <br />For compazison, MCC completed approximately 8.5 acres of permanent reclamation in the <br />Thermal Event Area (MR-270) in calendar year 2001. <br />Please call me if you have any questions. <br />Since ly, .,~~~_ .
