FIRST HALF 2003 SUBSIDENCE SURVEY REPORT
I. Survey Data•
During the first half of 2003, Twentymile's longwall did not directly undermine the
Union Pacific railroad, Walcott, Hayden-Gore Pass and Western Area Power
Administration power lines, or the Foidel Creek. On January 15, 2003, post-mining
survey data was collected from established monuments on the Union Pacific Railroad in
aeeas underlain by gate roads or panel centers in the 14-Right (Panel No. 14) longwall
panel. The data and frequency for the survey monuments along the Union Pacific
Railroad aze presented in the attached Table No. 1.
Portions of the Fish Creek were undermined by the 14 Right Pane] during the first half of
2003. The post mining survey of Fish Creek in areas underlain by the 14 Right gate road
or panel center is in process and will be completed late this summer. The subsidence
profile for Fish Creek over Panel 14 Right will therefore be submitted with the second
half 2003-subsidence report.
II. Structures:
Structures remained essentially unaffected during the period with the exception of the
predicted impacts to the Union Pacific Railroad and Fish Creek. No adverse impacts, i.e.
imminent failure of structure, were evident with regard to these structures.
As noted above, one post-mining survey of the Union Pacific Railroad was conducted on
January 15, 2003. A report on this survey data was submitted to various personnel from
the UPRR. Any final re-leveling of the rail line to the post-mining target level will be
performed by the UPRR as needed. A follow-up survey will be performed after
releveling is performed. A final report will be submitted to the UPRR subsequent to
these surveys.
No other repair work was required to the Union Pacific Railroad as a result of TCC's
mining activity.
III. Man:
The monitoring locations for the first half of 2003 are shown on the First Half of 2003,
Subsidence Map. The map also indicates the location of the longwall face on a monthly
basis.
IV. Hydrolo¢ic Monitorine:
The 14 Right Panel has two alluvial wells and two surface sites associated with it. The
sites are shown on the attached First Half of 2003 Subsidence Map.
