The third lek in reclamation, Seneca 3, was active for the fourth consecutive year in I • 2005. In past years (1998-2000) a number of male sharp-tailed grouse were observed in that area, but no females had ever been observed. On 26 Apri12005, at least 28 males and 2 females were observed on the ]ek, and a total of 34 grouse were documented. Male attendance of this lek has increased slightly each year since 2002. During 2004 surveys, six males were observed displaying along the roadside in SW%4 SEY4 Section 1, TSN, R87W, but no females were seen. On 26 Apri12005, ten males and two females were observed at that site (Seneca 4). Vegetation and terrain allowed for a complete visual count of the lek. 2005 Seneca II Mine Wildlife Monitoring Page 9
