Several areas of minor infestations of musk and Scotch thistle, hounds
tongue, and loco weed have been identified.
A combination of Banvil (dicamba) plus 2,4-D will be applied to the thistle rosettes before the thistle bolo.
Rate of application, az recommended by CSU Cooperative Extension, is 0.5 quarts Banvel plus l.0 quarts
2,4-D per acre. Mechanical control will be used after the terminal head is in the late flowering stage. The
cut debris will be gathered and burned to destroy any seed that has developed.
Hounds tongue is a biannual weed. 2,4-D (1.5 quarts per acre) will be applied to the rosettes during the
first year of growth. Plants in the second year of growth generally must be controlled by mechanical
means.
Loco weed generally has been found on undisturbed grazs lands adjacent to reclaimed areas. Roundup,
isopropylamine salt of N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine, mixed @ 2.66 oz. per gallon of water, will be
applied directly on the Flowering plant.
Please contact me if you need any additional information.
Sin~ly, ~
~p--.
Ronald G.
