Third Party Oversight
San Luis Mine

1

~J

1

12 Water, Waste & Land, Inc.
January 10, 1993
3.4 FINAL CONSTRUCTION
The embankment was constructed slightly wider (had steeper side slopes) than
required by the Design Report (SRK, 1993a). This will most likely not hinder the performance
of the embankment, and additional grading of the side slopes may have flattened the slopes
to the specified angles. Although some oversized materials were incorporated into the
embankment, the operators provided good compactive effort and made efforts to either break
down or move the oversized materials to the upstream and downstream embankment faces.
WWL's opinion is that the Raise I Embankment materials are acceptable) and should
generally function as intended. However, piezometers should be installed as jiscussed in
Section 3.3 to verify that the embankment and tailings near the embankment any performing
as designed IOMG, 1993m).
