The total inflow measured July 29, 1987 did not include inflow from the
fault system in the west portion of the No. 5 Mine, because that area had
been sealed. The west sealed area had produced the majority of the water
measured in the past inflow studies. Table 8 - 1987 Inflow With West Side
Inflow Estimates presents four different scenarios by which the inflow
from the western portion of the mine may be estimated. Including the
estimated inflows from the west portion of the No. 5 into the 1987 inflow
study shows that the inflow estimates are between 73 percent and 85
percent of the metered weekly average record, as shown in Table 8, below.
Table 8 - 1987 Inflow With West Side Inflow Estimates
Metered
Inflow Measurements (gpm) Discharge (gpm) 1) Percent
(A) (B) (C) (D) (E) 2) (F) 3) (G)
Year West East Total Week To Date Week To Date
1985 430 44 470 820 730 57 64
1986 390 240 630 270 590 230 110
1987 SEALED 84 84 600 560 14 15
1987 4)
430 84 510 600 560 85 91
1987 5)
410 84 490 600 560 82 88
1987 6)
390 84 480 600 560 80 86
1987 7)
350 84 440 600 560 73 79
NOTES:
1) Percen t of Metered Discharge which was measured as Inflow
2) F=C /Dx 100
3) G=C /Ex 100
4) = 1985 inflow from west
5) = Aver age of 1985 and 1986 i nflow from west
6) = 1986 inflow from west
7) = 1986 inflow from west minu s the difference between the 1985
and 1986 inflows from the west
1.6 Conclusions
The study reveals that conditions within the mine are remaining
essentially the same as during the prior years.
