<br />13.4.7.4 If the air sampling program reveals work locations where <br />concentrations exceed 25 ,percent of the applicable st~.ndards, <br />the licensee shall establish a program to determine <br />time-weighted exposures of employees working at these locations <br />and establish procedures required to maintain employee. exposures <br />as low as reasonably achievable. This program shall include <br />time-weighted studies which shall be done at least anc.ually. <br />13.4.7.5 Uranium particulate air sampling, supplementing the routine air <br />sampling program, shall be conducted for non-routine cleanup and <br />maintenance activities which might create significant additional <br />hazard in process areas, as appropriate. <br />13.4.7.6 The required in-plant airborne monitoring, shall be performed <br />under conditions typical of employee exposures. Along with <br />results of airborne activity, a record of the stale of operation <br />of both process and effluent control equipment and ver..tilation <br />conditions shall be kept. <br />13.4.8 ALPHA CONTAMINATION SAiKPLING <br />13.4.8.1 An alpha radiation survey meter shall be available ac all <br />times. In addition, the licensee shall perform documented spot <br />surveys for alpha contamination at least quarterly on workers <br />leaving the licensed facilities. 21pha contamination from the <br />licensed operations on skin or cloches exceeding <br />1000 dpm;100 cm2 shall require decontamination and an <br />investigation by the plant RSO as to the cause. The F.SO or <br />designee shall perform spot checks at lease weekly on workers <br />leaving the change room. <br />13.4.8.2 The licensee shall conduct alpha contamination surveye of the <br />licensed facilities control rooms, lunch rooms, change. rooms, <br />and offices at ].east weekly. If the surveys reveal <br />contamination levels that exceed Department guideline:;, the area <br />shall be decontaminated immediately and an investigation made by <br />the plant RSO to determine the cause and corrective measures <br />required to prevent recurrence. <br />13.4.9 FACILITIES BETA AND GA?B4A SURVEYS <br />This shall be as approved by the Department, in the Procedures <br />Manual required by LC 11.1.8. <br />:fonthly gamma surveys shall also be conducted along tt~e haul <br />road from the mine to the ore transfer pad and at the ore truck <br />maintenance shops. <br />-19- <br />
