1 � <br /> The State Climatology office located in Fort Collins, Colorado reported an average armual precipitation <br /> of 12.4 inches, based on data collected at the nearby Northdale weather station from 1961 to 1990. The <br /> average monthly precipitation varies from 0.36 inches in June to 1.66 inches in Octob.2r. <br /> ' There are other mines located in the vicinity, including the Deremo 41 mine, located approximately <br /> 1 3,200 feet to the north; and the Snyder mine, located approximately 1,300 feet to the sz)uthwest. <br /> ' The ground cover material in the area of the fuel spill is bare soil and mined ore spoi Is. As previously <br /> stated, the mined ore was processed for its uranium content, and therefore is expected to yield elevated <br /> levels of radionuclides, though no radionuclide analysis was performed during this investigation. <br /> There is a stand of small trees located immediately east of the spill area. There are two existing <br /> ' buildings and an elevator hoist structure, located approximately 150 feet northwest of the spill area at <br /> the site. <br /> 2.2 Nearest Resident <br /> The nearest resident relative to the subject site is situated approximately 6,600 feet south of the site (see <br /> ' Figure 2-2). <br /> 2.3 Water Well Locations <br /> ' The Durango, Colorado office of the Colorado Department of Water Resources was contacted by <br /> telephone to inquire about inventory records of water wells located in the vicinity. The only well <br /> within a one-half-mile radius of the subject site, on record at said office, is described as being located <br /> within the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 2, Township 42 North, ;Range 20 West. <br /> 4 <br />
