Box 4362 6~~~~d~~F"
Pagosa Springs, Co. 81147 OCT 1 ~ 2UQD
Permit No. M-1488-057
Division of 119inerals and Geology
Division of Minerals and Geology
Dept. of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 215
Denver, Co. 80203
October 13, 2000
ANNUAL REPORT
Canyon Sand and Gravel has worked within the boundarys of the established perimeters
this 2000 season. Final reclamation was done on the unfinished northwest corner of the
pit . Topsoil was replaced over the finished burin and grass seed was applied. The seed is
well started now. A 1 to 3 slope extends from the burin down to the bottom of the future
lake and boulders have been placed along the water line.
Excavation was done in May to stockpile raw material at the north end. Again in July
excavation was done and also the reclamation described above. This week a small
excavation will be done to restore the stockpile of raw material to be crushed taking
material from the north end of the interior face and some from the south end of the
interior face/ i.e. the remaining working area ofthe pit.
Now essentially the northern most phase 4 is completed as is the southern phase 1 and
phase 2. On the enclosed photo taken in September 2000, the entve pit area and future
lake can be seen.
By next year Canyon Sand and Gravel will have to stockpile by means of a long stacking
conveyor in an area outside of the perimeter of the pit/lake which is designated in the
permit by the dotted line at the northwest end of the pit boundary. Because of logistics
with the current state of the operation, phase 3 being the final phase, location of this area
needs to be moved to the area just north ofthe road leading into the pit. The same size
area would be used as the previously designated area in Permit M-1988-057, for the
stockpiling of sand which has not been needed. Topsoil will be scraped back and added
to the top soil piles already in waiting for the areas that need final touches when the
project is finished. This top soil supply is located next to the recently finished NW
section of burmed pit boundary, and will be on immediate site to reclaim the stockpile
area.
Enclosed annual fee of $281.00
