~~
fanuary ]998 Kerr Caal Company ~ 1997Annual HydrolaAy Report' CO Pmrsit No. G80~006 ~ 12
• 4.0 MINE AREA ALLUVIAL GROUND WATER
Ground water level measurements were taken at alluvial Well AO-2A on a monthly basis during
the year. Water samples were collected and analyzed in October, April, and July. This well is
located in Bush Draw, downstream (east) of the northern extent of the reclaimed Pit 1 area. Well
AO-2A replaced Well AO-2 in January 1993 and was completed to a depth of 14 feet adjacent to
the original location. See Map 1, Mine Area Monitoring Stations, for the general location.
Table 1, 1997 Ground Water Quality Statistics, includes the 1997 water quality summary for Well
AO-2A. The mean field and laboratory parameter values for the past five yeazs are presented in
Table 5, Historic Mine Area Alluvial Water Quality Data. The individual analyses of samples
collected are presented in Exhibit D, 1997 Mine Area Alluvial Water Quality Analyses.
In 1992, low water levels and the silted condition of AO-2 resulted in no samples collected. The
replacement of this well with AO-2A in January 1993 renewed the ability to monitor on a
consistent basis. Figure 5, EC vs TDS Well AO-2A, shows the levels and relationship between
electrical conductance and total dissolved solids. Due to the silted condition of the original well,
there is no data shown for 1991 or 1992.
•
•
I/B/%Jb~NNU~L.RPTVIIDRO.FNL TerraMatrix /nc. 'R.O.
