,.
__.,
It is my proposal, at this time, to temporarily terminate efforts to complete the
cleanup of our data and to concentrate on the completion of 1997 Annual Hydrologic
Reports for all of our permits, based upon the data as it presently exists. The 1997 Annual
Hydrologic Reports will, of course, include an explanation of changes that have been
made to the database at this time, and the effects of those changes upon the resulting
analyses of the altered data.
After the 1997 Annual Hydrologic Reports have been compiled and submitted, I
will resume efforts to complete the cleanup of our data. I will then expect to generate the
1998 Annual Hydrologic Reports from that `clean' data. The 1998 Reports will, also,
require a full account of all changes made to the database, and an evaluation of the effects
of those changes upon the resulting analyses of the final data.
I am anxious to complete the cleanup work on our hydrologic database, but feel
that the 1997 Annual Hydrologic Reports should not be delayed until the completion of
that task. With proper evaluation of the changes resulting from changes made to date, I
believe that the existing data will provide the information required to evaluate the
monitoring program and provide an accurate analysis of what is occurring as a result of
mining.
I greatly appreciate your cooperation in helping me to achieve these goals.
Sincerely,
Joe Shoemaker
Environmental Specialist
