Surface water monitoring consists of flow measurement and sampling of
selected surface stations, discharge points and sample sites on a weekly
basis from March through June, and on a monthly basis thereafter, until
flow ceases. Selected surface stations are equipped with water level re-
corders or crest staff gauges for continuous monitoring of flow. Discharge
points are also equipped with flow measuring devices. Sample sites are
shown in the attached table, 1984 Surface Water Monitoring. At the time of
surface water sampling, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity and dis-
solved oxygen are measured, along with a visual check for oil and grease.
The parameters analyzed for selected surface stations (SSS), discharge
points (SDP) and sample sites (SS) are shown in the attached table, 1984
Surface Water Quality Analyses.
LIFE-OF-MINE MONITORING PLAN
As required by Colorado Rule 4.05.13, CYCC has committed to the moni-
toring and reporting of certain data over the life of the mining and recla-
mation operations. Copies of the Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) pre-
pared for the NPDES Permit are to be forwarded to the Colorado Department
of Health - Water Quality Control Division and the Colorado Mined Land Rec-
lamation Division on a quarterly basis. Data from the monitor sites shown
on the attached map are to be forwarded to the CMLRD on an annual basis.
The monitor sites listed below are included in the Annual Hydrologic
Monitoring Report.
Life-Of-Mine Monitoring Sites
Bedrock Wells Spoil Wells** Alluvial Wells Selected Surface Stations
008-77-42 026-SP4 008-AX-1 24
008-77-58 026-SP5 008-AV-2 18
008-79-6 008-AX-3 29
99
60
76
USGS 09243700
USGS 09243900
