Reporting included water level and quality monitoring of alluvial wells,
water level monitoring of bedrock wells, water level and quality monitoring of the flooding mine
workings, and monitoring of springs and seeps in the affected area.
Monitoring Frequency
The monitoring frequency was met in accordance with the approved plan during 2003 and 2004.
No deviations from the plan were noted.
Surface Water tuantity and Quality
Surface water monitoring has been eliminated at this site. The mine has no appreciable impact
to the surface water system.
Ground Water Quantity and Quality
Data collected during 2003 and 2004 indicates no unexpected or abnormal changes to ground
water levels from previously reported monitoring data. Monitoring indicates minor changes in
NM-20 and NM-22 that do not seem to result from any mine related impact. Water level in SF-2
remains stable.
Well Zone Distance from 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004
mined area
NM-20 Ovbn 6000 ft 349 ft 349 ft 351 ft 364 ft 369 ft 373 ft
NM-21 Coal 4000 ft 740 ft 739 ft 701 ft 718 ft >750 >750
NM-22 Ovbn 10,000 ft 414 ft 407 ft 401 ft 407 ft 419 ft 409 ft
SF-2 Ovbn 3000 ft 675 ft 656 ft 641 ft 645 ft 645 ft 646 ft
Bedrock well water quality sampling is no longer required due to the large distances of these
wells from the mined area.
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
