•
Hydrologic Moniroring Acfivipes
graphs depicting spring flows from 1979 to the
present have been included as Appendix F.
Springs sampling records during 1988 were
generally complete with the exception of springs
G-la and G-22. Flow at these springs was either
nonexistent or insufficient for sampling during all
three sampling periods. Consequently, no water
quality data were acquired from either spring.
GROUND WATER
MONITORING
Nineteen wells were monitored during the
1988 water year. Under the 1987 reduction of
hydrology monitoring revision, monitoring of all
wells in the Minnesota Creek basin, except
SOM-2 and SOM-16, was discontinued until the
summer before mining impacts can be expected.
Also, sampling frequency changed from monthly
(water levels) and quarterly (water quality) to 3
times per year. These changes are summarized on
Table 3. The locations of the monitored wells are
shown on Exhibit I.
Under the revised hydrology monitoring
program, seasonal measurements (three times per
year) of water level, pH, conductivity, tempera-
ture, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids,
total iron, and total manganese were taken at
each monitoring well. Measured water levels, field
parameters, and the results of laboratory analyses
conducted for each well sample are presented in
TABLE 2 Spring Monitoring Program for the Mt.
