^, Mr. Robert Liddle •
' April 4, 1985
Page 2
mine inflow studies conducted in November, 1983 and June, 1984, Snowmass has
more than adequately met this discharge requirement. As discussed before,
Snowmass will continue to pump much more than 64,800 GPD of water through
1986, thereby satisfying the worst case prediction of inflows into the mines
from North and Middle Thompson Creeks.
3) Recent snow measurements in this area indicate that the snowpack in the high
country is 5-15% above normal. It appears that there will be adequate stream
flows for the 1985 irrigation season and it is doubtful that there will be a
call on North or Middle Thompson Creeks this summer.
Given these facts, Snowmass feels that delaying the filing of a formal augmentation
plan will allow us to obtain more complete stream flow data in order to file a
realistic augmentation plan. In addition, given the existing status of mining
operation, it is apparent that Snowmass will greatly supplement the flow in North
Thompson Creek rather than depleting it during this period.
If you have any questions or comments concerning this request, please feel free
to.contact me here at the mine office.
Sincerely,
Scott Jon
Enviromm~ental Engineer
SJ:mgc
pc: D.
