Influence constant n = 1.92
zone factors a-g beginning with the innermost circle are:
0 = 0.36
b = 0.49
c = 0.80
d = .107
e = .159
f = .171
g = .047
The computer code for the implementation of the zone area method was modified to
allow the use of this influence constant and these zone factors in the
calculation of subsidence at Bear Mine #3.
4.2.2 Compatibility with the "Surfer" Model
The basic computer code for the zone area method was further modified in
order to allow the use of grid files generated by a commercially available
computer contouring program called "Surfer" developed by Golden Software, Inc. ,
of Golden, Colorado. The computer code of the zone area program was modified to
allow a grid developed from the digitized surface contours above the mine and
another grid of the coal seam contours developed from the digitized contours of
the "C" seam mining to be input directly into the program (allowing us to
calculate the site specific overburden thickness at each grid point) .
Furthermore, output from the program consisting of calculated subsidence at each
grid point, overburden thickness, and the calculated final surface elevation are
produced in the form of grid files that are compatible with the "Surfer" program
and may be read directly into the program for contouring.
r.
