• Soil Salvage and Storage. The disturbance azea from which soil was salvaged and the soil stockpile
sites as of December 31, 2004 aze shown on the Yoast Mine 2004 Reclamation Map. During 2004,
there was soil salvaged from 23.1 acres all of which was live handled and respread on reclaimed land,
in addition soil was removed from stockpiles L, M and Q and xespread.
The volume of soil remaining in stockpIles as of December 31, 2004 was determined by field survey.
The stockpile volumes as of December 31, 2004 aze listed in Table 04.1. As of December 31, 2004,
there were 596.9 acre-feet of soil stockpiled in the training area.
Soil Replacement. Topsoil was replaced on 64.8 acres of disturbed azea in 2004. Therefore, the
total remaining life-of--mine disturbance area requiring topsoil as of December 31, 2004 is 496.1 acres.
Soil Replacement Thickness. The soil balance as of December 31, 2004 for the remaining life-of-
mine is calculated as follows:
Mine Area
Total disturbance area = 887.4 acres
Permanent Facilities & Topsoil replaced = 315.5 acres
Disturbance area requiring soil = 496.1 acres
Soil in stockpiles (Table 04.1) = 596.9 acre-feet
Mean replacement depth available = 1.2 Eeet
By dividing the soil available by the azea requiring soil replaced, we arrive at the 2004 soil balance
thickness of 1.2 feet for the mine area. Enough topsoil has been salvaged to reclaim the existing
disturbance with the permitted minimum replacement thickness of 1.0 foot.
• REVEGETATION
• Seeding and Shrub Planting
A total of 64.4 acres were seeded/planted in 2004. The azea was seeded using Seed Min #lA (see
Table 04.1, Seed Mix #lA, for constituents).
No concentrated shtvb seeding was conducted in 2004.
Shn,b Plote. Approximately 6,250 seedlings were planted at Yoast; locations of the sites are shown
on the attached 2004 Reclamation Map. Following is the breakdown indicating the number of
seedling speties planted in each area.
North Area:
Gambel oak 200
Servicebetry 400
Chokecherry 350
Mm.
